Cincinnati Reds Minor League Game Review: July 10, 2025

Francisco Urbaez had four hits for Louisville, Ruben Ibarra homered as part of a 3-hit day in Chattanooga’s win, Alfredo Duno’s 3-hit day extended his on-base streak to 36 games, Sheng-En Lin set a career high in both innings pitched and strikeouts for the ACL Reds, Hansel Jimenez stole five bases for the DSL Reds, and Omar Guadamuz homered as part of a 3-hit day for the DSL Rojos.

Game Notes
Blake Dunn extended his on-base streak to 31 games with his two walks on Thursday afternoon.
Ryan Vilade put together his third straight 2-hit game. He’s 6-14 with two doubles, two home runs, and six runs batted in over those three games. He’s homered in back-to-back games.
Francisco Urbaez just keeps on piling up the hits. He’s now hitting .316/.383/.466 with 24 doubles, five triples, two home runs, 29 walks, and 30 strikeouts in his 72 games/305 plate appearances.
Brian Van Belle had a tough outing in his previous start, giving up five earned (and being charged with three unearned) in just 3.0 innings against Indianapolis. He rebounded well on Thursday afternoon in Columbus as he put together a quality start with six strikeouts.

Game Notes
Edwin Arroyo extended his hitting streak to six games. Four of those games have been 2-hit games, and he’s had four doubles and three walks during the streak. He’s now hitting .278/.339/.349 on the season.
Sal Stewart had been in a slump, going 0-15 in the previous five games and was just 2-27 for the month before Thursday night’s 2-hit game. Expect to see him next in Atlanta on Saturday in the Futures Game (4pm ET).
Jay Allen II continued his hot July. He’s hitting .324/.378/.500 during the month with four extra-base hits in nine games.
Jared Lyons gave up three runs in 2.0 innings on June 12th. That pushed his ERA to 4.88 on the year. Since then he’s thrown 16.0 innings with just one earned run and lowered his ERA to 3.30 on the season. In his 43.2 innings with Chattanooga to go with 17 walks and 43 strikeouts.
The Dayton Dragons were postponed
They will play a doubleheader on Saturday.

Game Notes
Alfredo Duno extended his on-base streak to 36 games with his three hits. Half of his hits in July have been doubles (four of eight). Expect to see him next in Atlanta for the Futures Game.
Malvin Valdez remained hot as he picked up another two hits and another walk. Since the start of June he’s gone 27-85 while hitting .318/.408/.388 with 12 walks and 18 strikeouts in 28 games/98 plate appearances.
Reynardo Cruz had walked multiple batters in each of his first four outings with Daytona after rehabbing his way back from missing multiple seasons and having Tommy John surgery. On Thursday night he walked no one and had four strikeouts, giving him more strikeouts than walks with the Tortugas.

Alfredo Alcantara continues to swing a hot bat, picking up another multi-hit game. Since the start of June he’s hitting .367/.506/.517.
Arnaldo Lantigua hit his league leading 9th home run of the season. He’s driven in 10 runs in the last three games.
Anthuan Valencia extended his hitting streak to six games. He’s now hitting .313/.382/.458 through 111 plate appearances.
Sheng-En Lin set a career high with his 4.0 innings pitched. He also set a career high with seven strikeouts. Through his 22.1 innings this season he’s posted a 3.63 ERA with nine walks and 32 strikeouts.

Game Notes
Pablo Nunez went 0-4 and had a strikeout. He also was hit by a pitch and that kept his on-base streak alive at 26 games. The strikeout was just his 3rd of the season.
Adolfo Sanchez had been in a bit of a slump to start July, going 3-15 in the first give games. He busted out of that slump on Thursday morning as he had two hits and his 4th walk of the month. The walk gives him 18 on the season to go against just 17 strikeouts. In his 109 plate appearances he’s hitting .301/.459/.470.
Like Sanchez, Jirvin Morillo was out to a bit of a slump to begin the month as he went 2-15. But like Sanchez he busted out of is on Thursday with three hits and he picked up a walk that gave him as many free passes on the year as he has strikeouts. In his 93 plate appearances this season he’s hitting .316/.441/.526 with 17 walks/strikeouts.

Jose Martinez started the season 7-33 (.212) before starting a 4-game hitting streak on July 4th that included Thursday’s game. He’s gone 8-16 with three walks and eight runs scored in those four games, raising his line on the year to .306/.414/.327 in his 17 games played.
Liberts Aponte extended his hitting streak to six games here in July as he remains hot. He began the year by hitting .167 in the first nine games of the year. Since then he’s played in 13 games and has hit .348/.456/.609 with six extra-base hits, eight walks, and just five strikeouts.
Enry Torres extended his hitting streak to six games, too. He’s been on base in 15 of the 16 games he has played in this season. He’s hitting .265/.438/.286 on the year. He hasn’t shown much power yet, but has walked 14 times with just six strikeouts.
Omar Guadamuz had a day of firsts. He hit his first career home run. He had his first career 3-hit game. It was also the first game in his career where he reached base four times in a game.
